Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping - Do not Bring Firewood due to the Emerald Ash Borer

It is against the law to move firewood
in the state of Michigan.

(here's why...)

We remind all campers when they make a reservation not to bring in firewood, due to an infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer which is an insect that is believed to have migrated to this area and shipping crates from China.

this insect has already caused the destruction of tens of millions of ash trees in southeastern Michigan alone with tens of millions more lost in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Québec, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Since a large percentage of the trees within the campground are Ash, the borer is a significant risk to the native species that are natural to our area in which contribute to the atmosphere of the campground.
Due to this infestation, entire forests of trees have been clear-cut old south of us and in the upper Peninsula, due to people unwittingly moving firewood that contains the larva or beetle of this menace.
