Mackinaw Multi-Sport Mix

July 17, 2014 by Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping

Event Date:

July 27th, 2014

The Mackinaw Multi-Sport Mix is in downtown Mackinaw City at Wawatam Park, steps from dozens of all the stores, shops and hotels. Why an international distance? So you can finish and still enjoy the rest of your day in beautiful and historic Mackinaw City or jet over to Mackinac Island for the rest of the day. After swimming in the shadows of the Mighty Mac bridge, you will enjoy a great ride out to Wilderness State Park, which takes you along both lakes and a nice little climb, as well. Then the run will take you under the bridge, past Historic Fort Michilimackinac to a turnaround down a tiny street on Lake Huron before coming back downtown past the lighthouse for a great finish in downtown Mackinaw City, MI.

July 16, 2014 by Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping

Event Date:

July 19th - July 20th, 2014

The Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac is a race like no other. More than three hundred fifty boats leave Chicago every July for a dash to Mackinac Island.

The race starts off of the Chicago light house, traveling 333 statute miles (289.4 nautical miles) from Chicago, starting just off Navy Pier, to Mackinac Island, Michigan. It is the oldest annual freshwater distance race in the world. The boats cross the finish line between the lighthouse on Round Island and the race committee trailer on Mackinac Island.

The 106th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac officially has 333 registrants as of the June 13 entry deadline — a coincidental number of participants for the 333-mile race that begins July 18 and July 19. More than 3,000 individual sailors from throughout the Midwest, the U.S. and Canada are participating in the 2014 event.

This article in the Daily News will give you more information on the inspiring story of "Team Maddy."

Did you know that there are athletes that take disabled children with them on sporting events? That practice was part of the genesis of "Team Maddy." Their story was so inspiring that we decided to create the video (below) so that Rick could share his story personally.

You can learn more about the Mackinaw Multi-Sport Mix (Mackinaw City) as well as this wonderful new idea of athletes sharing the experience of their physical prowess with those who are less fortunate by watching our video (below).
