Archaeologists excavate inside the stockade of Fort Michilimackinac (Colonial Michilimackinac) as visitors look on. Each summer archaeologists excavate a portion of the grounds of the Fort. Results of their work, such as ornate buttons, fragments of pottery, coins and other evidence of life in the late 1700s can be seen in displays throughout the Fort's exhibits.
